Presentation of the Final Project Results
ULSIT 1, 119 Tsarigradsko Shose Blvd., Ceremonial Hall
The research team presented the results of its joint work to lecturers, doctoral students and students. Photographs and materials from the project activities were displayed, followed by a discussion on the importance of interdisciplinary manuscript research.
Special attention was given to the need for a new academic course and practicum preparing students to work with manuscripts, process raw digital data and apply non-invasive methods.
New Technologies in Cultural Heritage Research
Metropolitan Hotel, Sofia
A lecture and discussion in English on the application of new technologies in cultural heritage research were followed by a demonstration of a portable Raman spectrometer. Specialists from Germany, Greece, Spain and the United States participated.
Presentation of the Project and Its Results
Cyrillo-Methodian Research Centre at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia
The project and its research results were presented to colleagues and the general public in the presence of Prof. Trendafil Krastanov, discoverer of the Vatican Palimpsest.
Multispectral, XRF and Spectrographic Imaging of Manuscripts
ULSIT and the St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library
Guest lecturers from CIMA Vienna presented methods for non-invasive examination and computer image processing. Three parchment manuscripts and practical research approaches were demonstrated at the National Library.
