Workshop at SS Cyril and Methodius National Library with experts from CIMA Laboratory - Austria.

On 22nd March 2022, the Sts. Cyril and Methodius National Library hosted a workshop on the project "Interdisciplinary Methods and Tools for the Study of Manuscript Monuments". Three documents, inscribed on parchment and sourced from the National Library collections, were provided to the international team members for review.  The experts deliberated on the current research conducted on palimpsests which are manuscripts that were re-written on the erased base of other older texts. They subsequently chose one for imaging and spectrographic analysis as a test subject. The manuscript bearing the signature НБКМ 880 is known in academic circles as "Dragotin Mineius and the Apostle." Its dating places it in the late 12th to early 13th century. This project aims to introduce a new methodology and practice for interdisciplinary research and studying the literary heritage that is preserved in Bulgarian libraries.
